Van Zant Elementary School

The Van Zant Open Space area (located behind Van Zant Elementary) is approximately three football fields long with basketball courts, a walking path, stately trees, and lots and lots of grass.

In 2021, the Evesham Environmental Commission came together to install a modest butterfly garden with native plants, located close to the school grounds. Additionally, a Girl Scout Troop from Van Zant also has been volunteering to help with the project. Our vision is that this garden will serve as a beautiful and convenient wildlife habitat for the school students and neighbors alike to enjoy for many years to come.

This will be the first year of plants starting to show, so we are excited to see what sprouts and blooms out of the several dozen plants of many species that were installed. We also welcome local gardeners to sign up to help care for the garden over the course of time as it is indeed a garden for the Evesham community to enjoy.
